The Story...

Binder Books was started in early 1991 by Scott Satterlund, an International Harvester collector since childhood. Scott grew up around International Tractors and Trucks since his grandfather, William G. Talbot, was a dealer in Cumberland, Wisconsin (see photo below).  The idea for starting his own company began in the fall of 1990, after purchasing a collection of manuals at an auction in Marsing, Idaho. Scott initially started out selling only duplicate original manuals but found he had more demand than supply.  He then looked in reproducing these manuals under license from International Truck & Engine Corp and CNH America (formerly Case IH).  He was granted a license to reprint these and we continue to do so today.

Scott's wife, Cyndi, joined Binder Books full time In 1996, while expecting their daughter, Jessalyn.  Two years later,  Binder Books moved to a location in Tigard, Oregon where they were located for 10 years. In late 2008, we moved the business to our current location near Sherwood, Oregon (just outside of Wilsonville on Interstate 5).

We continue to offer thousands of reprint and original manuals for all types of IH equipment including IH Trucks & Scouts, IH and Farmall Tractors, Cub Cadet Tractors, IH Crawlers and Industrial Equipment, Stationary Engines and Other Types of Farm Tractors and Garden Tractors, and technical and historical reference information.   We have high speed copy equipment that allows us to scan documents to a digital file and save to reproduce as a high quality reprint.  Often times, the manual we reproduce is actually better quality than the original.

In addition, we have expanded our product line to include IH Truck Toys, Farm Tractor Toys (all kinds), Collectibles Items, Restoration Books, Decals, and IH Truck & Scout Parts.

Scott Satterlund passed away after a short illness in June of 2003, but  his vision of preserving the history and products of a great American company has continued.  Cyndi, who now manages the store, has married another IH Truck Enthusiast, Dan Haider.  He and daughter, Jessalyn, help out on occasion.

We thank all of our customers who have been with us over the years. We appreciate your support and loyalty and hope to continue to serve you in the future.   Binder Books looks forward to help save one more tractor, one more truck, and providing you with a quality product at a fair price!

The photo in the middle was taken of the dealership owned by Scott Satterlund's grandfather, William G. Talbot, in Cumberland, Wisconsin in October 1948. This was taken at their grand opening. The right photo includes Mr. Talbot (second from the right) surrounded by IHC executives. His store was one of the very first IHC "Base of Operations" prototype buildings in the USA as designed by Industrial architect and artist, Raymond Loewy.
